12 Prospective Bidders For Nuclear Plant Works Completion

The Ministry of Economy and Trade has announced receipt of 12 letters of intent from investors interested in taking part in the completion of Reactor 3 of Romania's sole nuclear plant, according to Nuclearelectrica GM Ioan Rotaru.

He added further information would become available later this week, upon Prime Minister Nastase's visit to Cernavoda, where the plant is located.

According to Rotaru, the investors' input in the project can be in cash as well as in kind. He expects Reactor 3 to be commissioned in 2011. The project is worth some one billion dollars. Until then, Reactor 1 and Reactor 2 can generate about 15% of Romania's total power drain.
