Sabanci Holding wants to invest in Romania

Sabanci Holding, Turkey's second business group, is interested in opening a cement factory in Romania with a 150 million dollars investment and an estimated capacity of one million tons per year.

Sabanci also aims to become involved in marketing domestic or imported electrical energy.

The Turkish group own more than 70 companies with activities in fields like textiles, cement or energy.
In Romania there are 9 cement factories owned by Lafarge(France), HeidelbergCement(Germany) and Holcim(Switzerland).
In 2004, imports in this sector increased significantly, reaching 5-6% of total sales.
