Pretzels Plus has crossed borders and licensed its products to be sold on the international market. In October, the Penn Township company signed a licensing agreement with Dan Iordachescu to open a location in Romania — a first step in marketing its snack food on a global scale, said Brad Eline.
Eline said he agrees that many European countries have been influenced by American brands and want to market domestic products. "In Romania," Eline said, "the Pretzels Plus will stand next to a McDonald's and a Kentucky Fried Chicken."
The Pretzels Plus in Romania will sell beer and some food catered to the tastes of the region, Eline said. No domestic Pretzel Plus franchise locations sell beer.
In March, Eline said he will travel to Romania to train both the manager and his staff on how the make pretzels.
In his office, Eline has a green folder thick with various inquiries from international entrepreneurs who want to run a Pretzels Plus. Those countries include Iraq and the Philippines. So far, the company has signed 10-year renewable licensing agreements with business people in Romania and Puerto Rico.
