Romania’s government decided to increase the opening of the local electricity market by 15 percentage points to 55% starting November 1 in line with commitments to the European Union to gradually liberalize the energy market.
After the fully liberalization of the Romanian electricity market, the ANRE, the watch dog of the sector, will decide only on transport and distribution tariffs, while retail prices to be set on supply and demand criteria.
