Hi,
Yesterday, I wanted to go see Shakespeare's "Midsummernight's Dream" play. An advertisment of this paly said it was going to be played in the Cismigiu park, in Bucharest, and it was a free entrance. The show was supposed to start at 20:30. I arrived there at 20:00 and surprisingly I found out that all the seats were reserved. There were about 150 seats out of which about 30-50 were already occupied by regular spectators and the rest of 100+ were reserved by ARCUB, the organizer of the show, for VIPs. All these seats were central and very good seats. The 50 seats for regular visitors were, of course, on the side of the stage, with bushes in front of them and so on. Now, ARCUB is sponsored by the Bucharest City Council. So its sponsored basicaly from public funds. How come its activity, who is destined for the entire city, is to be aimed mainly (only) at VIPs who have no or very few connections with the theatre, while the rest of the citizens have to stay up in order to see a play? This seams to me outrageous that us, regular citizens, who contribute with the same ammount to the city's public funds, we are being fooled by such organizations with no respect for the money. My conclusion - ARCUB, please run your shows in VIPs houses, on VIP beaches, in VIP parks and leave the ublic parks to the regular citizens. I enjoy more the silence and no-activity in Cismigiu than you stealing our space there - even only for one night - in order to invite your own people and your own "friends". Mihai.
