Business in Romania blog
The Romanian Football Federation have announced they will enter the race to host the European Championships in 2012.

"We have already sent a letter to UEFA," said Cristian Bivolaru, general secretary of the Romanian Federation.

The Romanian Federation discarded the initial idea of a joint candidature with Hungary and will face stiff competition from Italy, Greece, Russia and the Czech Republic, who have already put their names forward.

The deadline given by UEFA, European football's governing body, for nations to present their bids for the tournament is January 31.

The announcement of the host nation will be made public in December 2006.
