On November 16, at the Ex-Im Bank Infrastructure Conference held in Bucharest, Mr. J.D. Crouch II, US Ambassador in Romania, had a speech in which he pointed the folllowing ideas:
- U.S. is officially the fifth largest investor in the country, with U.S. investment totaling $875 million at the end of August. This number excludes many investments by U.S.-headquartered companies located abroad that would more than double this figure
- in order to have good foreign investments, Romania must have good infrastructure and good business climate.
- transparency in budgeting and spending, as well as decentralization (authentical one), are critical to sound infrastructure development.
You can find the wntire speech (which I guarantee is quite an interesting one)
here.
